The Colors Of Tucson

This photo was taken this morning - from my cell phone.  As I waited for a client I noticed just how beautiful the sky was matched up against the building colors.

While taking it all in,I thought about some of the more popular colors here in Tucson that people use to paint their homes.  Often you wouldn't think that the colors would blend or work together - but against the Sonora landscape and sky - they do!

Here are some popular desert southwest colors for homes:

Sage green mixed with various hues of purple

Tan and Brown combinations

Rust or burnt orange mixed with hues of golden yellow

White, of course is a favorite with many color options for wood and window trim.

As in this picture, various hues of blue - my favorite is a denim blue, for trim and it works well with many colors such as lime green (really - looks great on a house if done right!), bright yellows and rust reds.

If you live here in Arizona, you have so many options for color that brighten up the desert landscape that surrounds it!  Enjoy and don't be afraid to color your life up a little!

That is a very cool picture.  Love the colors.  The boldness.

Gab,

The Southwest has always had such unique colors, especially with the construction and architecture. That picture from your cell phone came out absolutely amazing.

Those colors are a little reminiscent of my recent trip to San Miguel De Allende, MX. Another beautiful location with the bluest skies I've ever seen.

Beautiful colors Gabrielle...the sky is gorgeous. It's been overcast here today but is supposed to be wonderful (in the mid 60's and sunny) through Monday.  Plan on doing a little hiking on Monday.

Nice thought to your post, Gab!  I pulled over shortly after leaving home this morning - a hot air balloon was drifting over our subdivision - lots of color there as well!  Have a great weekend!

When I'm in Arizona I refer to these colors as Southwest colors. From now on these colors will be referred to as Tucson colors =]

Funny, Gabrielle.  I have a country club listing for a small Spanish Med home that is painted a similar color.  Many of the comments we are getting are negative about these colors for Florida.  It's only paint, and I don't think it looks very bad, but it is definitely more suited to Tuscon and the West.

What a great photo, sometimes it is the most simple subject that shows off the best, and on your cell phone no less!
